This event features the history, music and cultural heritage of our Black Hills Community.

Friday, September, 19, 2008
Cowboy Supper and entertainment by "The Fiddlers Three" starting at 5:00 p.m. at
High Country Guest Ranch west of Hill City on Deerfield Road.

Saturday, September 20, 2008
  • The "1880 train" departs at 10:00 a.m. from the Black Hills Central Railroad station.
  • Entertainment throughout the day in Hill City 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday. Enjoy music, cowboy poetry, comedy, and historical dramatizations.
  • Cowboy and Native American Art featured in the Galleries around town as well as old time craft demonstrations.
  • 12:15 p.m. – Re-enactment on Main Street followed by a parade of costumed characters, horse drawn carriages and riders. Any persons with costumes can participate in the parade . Prizes for best entries.
  • The “Wine Train into the West” departs at 1:15 featuring a tasty meal paired with wines from Prairie Berry Winery. Tickets available at the Black Hills Central Railroad. $55.00 per person. Prizes given away each day at the end of the Wine Train for best costume.
  • Horse drawn wagon rides around town, see townsfolk in costumes, mountain men, Indians and cowboys. Old time kids activities and games.
  • Jalan Crossland and his band will be featured Saturday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets - $20.00, $15.00 in advance. Call the Hill City Area Chamber of Commerce for tickets. 605-574-2368, 1-800-888-1798

Sunday, September 20, 2008
  • Sunday the "1880 train" departs at 10:00 a.m. from the Black Hills Central Railroad station.
  • Events at Double Diamond Ranch near Three Forks (Hwy 16 & 385). Enter Ranch off Hwy 16 east on Placer Place across from the Mini Golf. Stay left on Happy Trails and follow signs.
    11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. including:
    Children’s games - Stick Horse, Dummy Steer Roping, Sack & Foot Races
    Ranch Horse Competition & 4H Horse Games

Authentic Old West attire by participants and spectators is welcome and encouraged! Prizes for best costumes given away at several events during the Festival.
