When Korczak accepted the Native American's invitation to carve a mountain memorial he determined that it would be a humanitarian project. It would also tell present and future generations the story of Native American peoples by collecting and preserving outstanding examples of Indian culture and heritage.

The Museum features and archieves railroad memorabilia, maps, photos, and related items from South Dakota and
other American railroads. Railroads have long had an impact in not only Hill City, but on South Dakota and our entire nation. Now, South Dakota's unique railroad history and its influences on the region and its people will have a
showcase in Hill City. The museum is located on the grounds of the

The Mammoth Site, provides the following to the worldwide scientific community: a comparative collection of mammoth remains, Ice Age vertebrates and invertebrates, geology, and 26,000 year old environmental data. Visit Wade's Mining Museum and see
how mining was done back in the early days. See some of the old equipment still in operation. The old stamp mill, used to grind hard rock, is being run by an old upright steam engine. Learn to pan for gold. You can use some of the same placer gravel that is being put through the mill. Find some interesting rocks and minerals: Quartz, Jasper, Garnets, Hematite iron ore and
many other rocks and minerals of interest. Experience gold panning from an old prospectors point of view.

The Journey Museum in Rapid City is a collective display of the Geology and Palenontology Museum, Archaeology Museum, Sioux Inidan Musuem, Minnilusa Pioneer Museum, and the Duhamel Collections. Special exhibits rotate thru out the year. Educaiton tours, summer classes, adopt a garden, and Black Hills Astromony Society all have a place in the Journey Musem. Visit the museum and enjoy 3 millions years of growth in the Black Hills.
